User feedback: Include soft credits in contact totals and largest gift for filtering and reporting
Currently, soft credits are not included in a contact’s total giving or largest gift when filtering in Givebutter.
I’ve heard feedback from a user who uses soft credits for donor-advised fund (DAF) gifts, where the DAF receives the tax receipt, but the individual donor is still recognized through soft credit. Their goal is to track true donor value, including contributions made through DAFs, in order to identify and segment major donors.
Right now, when filtering contacts by giving thresholds, these donors are not appearing because their contributions are only reflected as soft credits.
It would be helpful if soft credits could be:
- Included in a contact’s total giving
- Considered when identifying largest gift
- Available in filtering and segmentation
This would allow organizations to better reflect a donor’s full impact while still maintaining proper tax treatment for DAF contributions.
