It would be extremely helpful to have an option during the import process to detect and merge duplicates (e.g., by name, email, or other identifiers) instead of creating separate records. This would reduce manual cleanup and prevent duplicate contacts from accumulating over time.

Agreed! We have about 1000 volunteers per year and we collect and import those names based on team rosters (spreadsheets). Many are repeat people and this functionality would be very nice to have.
For repeat people, we’ve come up with a tagging system that can clearly show us how they’ve volunteered and the number of years with us. That seems to be working well, but cleaning up the duplicate entries is still a time suck.

Yes this would be helpful. We have donors who don’t use automatic giving and go in and manually give each month or multiple times a year and it creates a new account for them. I can catch the few I know, but sometimes our every day work tasks don’t allow us to catch it.
