The user would like an option to indicate an unknown relationship between associated contacts or a customizable relationship field that allows organizations to specify the relationship without making assumptions.

Currently, the available relationship types may not accurately represent every situation. For example, when an organization receives checks from two individuals, staff may not know whether they are spouses, siblings, cousins, roommates, or friends. Although an "Other" option exists, there is no way to add a clarifying note.

An "Unknown" relationship type or an editable text field would allow organizations to maintain accurate contact records without incorrectly labeling relationships.
