Check Donation Payment Statuses

When the "send a check" option is turned on and a donor pays by check, the transaction should remain pending until the check is received and marked as successful for tracking purposes.

This is additionally important if you wish to include checks for QuickBooks (QBO) import. Enabling check option in a campaign ensures that we capture donor information appropriately but until the check arrives, this transaction should not be synced to QB. Givebutter notes that best practice is to not sync checks but this could be rectified easily by a transaction field noting that it has arrived (or coupling with the deposit date that is already completed) and only enabling "ready to sync" if the deposit date is completed.

I was just about to request this feature. I am not sure what Succeeded really means unless it means, “Hey, I appeared on your transaction list!”
I have yet to see a different status so it doesn’t seem helpful to take up so much screen real estate. Maybe if it was a check replace this with Check Deposit Date ?
“Completed” would be a more helpful final status.

I agree with what others have said. The "Succeeded" process is false because the process is not complete if someone chose to pay by check. A new status needs to be added to show that the check is missing.

Yes please! Our Finance team just spent time looking for a check that they thought was missing, but the donor had never mailed it. It's confusing to see a "Succeeded" Status when the donation never actually came in.

Makes sense. I agree totally.
