UPDATE: I have been able to successfully pass the 'communication_opt_in' field from Givebutter to edit constituent subscription preference in my CRM via Zapier.

Since new constituents are defaulted to opted-in when created by the integration, my zap looks for GB opt-outs, searches for that constituent in my CRM, then opts-out the contact preferences there.

Here is how I did it for my CRM (Bloomerang):

(Note: It doesn't seem like SMS opt-in is seperate from Email opt-in in the current API.)

GB is allowing customers to pass data to other platforms and have customers be out of compliance with CAN-SPAM laws. GB captures the data (subscription preferences) and this important bit of data really needs to be included via the API, Webhooks, and Zapier.

Custom field mapping for integrations would be nice, but I agree with others-- opt-in status is ESSENTIAL information for maintaining good donor relations. It should be part of any direct CRM integration, but at the very least needs to be possible via Zapier.

Is there any update on this? I agree with Gina -- the integration with mailchimp and constantcontact are basically useless if we can't use subscription status. It looks like this was being worked on a year ago.

This is critical basic information- the integration is basically useless without it. If they are not opted in they should not be zapped over to an email list. So, all of the marketing that says GB integrates with constant contact etc is pointless if subscription status is unknown. You are forced to do it manually anyway. This should be escalated. Looks like it was in progress in March then set back to open. Should be an easy fix. Thanks!
