Stop recurring donation after disabling payment on a campaign

When a campaign is set to stop accepting payments, active recurring donations are not automatically cancelled — donors continue to be charged on schedule.
Expected Behavior
- Disabling payments on a campaign should pause or stop any active recurring donation plans tied to it, or at minimum notify affected donors.

I think Sandy has a good workaround, to automatically swap the recurring donation to another campaign, if you want donations ending to a current campaign.

Agree with other commenters that recurring plans should be preserved even when a campaign closes. Or at least an option to transfer to general donations or another campaign.

Absolutely disagree that any recurring plan should ever be disabled by anything other than donor request. As mentioned by another commenter, trying to get them back as a recurring donor may not happen, and then you've just lost out on that ongoing funding for no good reason. If you're just not wanting to have the recurring donation continue to charge to the campaign that has ended, than a better request/solution would be to see if it's possible instead to have a recurring donation automatically default to a different campaign (e.g. your general campaign), or to have the ability to reassign a recurring donation to a different campaign.

I respectfully don't agree with disabling these types of gifts. We have had quite a few recurring donors who have intended their gifts to be long term and whose regular donations have continued years beyond a campaign. Disabling them would compel us to go back and try to encourage donors to sign up again, which may or may not happen.
