Delete Givebutter Subscribe button after someone donates
complete

It just came to my attention yesterday that Givebutter is trying to solicit our donors' emails after they donate. The screen shot below shows how it appears. Most donors will not notice that it is subscribing to Givebutter and not our own newsletters. I embed code on my site from Bloomerang, Paypal etc, they never try to get my donor's emails. I am very confused by this and it seems like it is a feature we should be able to either pay to delete or should not be a feature at all and Givebutter can market for their own list of names and not try to solicit our donors. Thoughts?

I'm confused by the status of this recommended change - it shows completed in 2021 and then Planned and In progress in 2023.

I agree - I would like this deleted ... as it will confuse donors and they may believe that their donation will go to givebutter

Liran Cohen: wow. Finally! Thank you. This is such a weird thing to have ever done when we work so hard to get and keep donors. Thank you

Chris Bohn: This is great news! It is just not okay that you do this. Try to take our donors info that we work so hard to get!

Hi All - thanks so much for your feedback about this. We're happy to introduce a new feature addition to our Custom Branding package that allows you to hide the subscribe box OR replace it with your own Mailchimp newsletter subscription list. If you already have access to Custom Branding via Givebutter Pro, you can enable this right away in your dashboard. If you're interested in Givebutter Pro, feel free to contact anyone on our team to help you get set up. As a reminder, we also recently launched Givebutter Gives Back, where qualifying nonprofits can receive access to any Givebutter subscription for up to 90% off!

Liran Cohen: Hello - I’ve been building my database and getting ready to begin communicating with my potential donors via Engage. I’m disappointed to read that GiveButter might use my contacts and contact anyone outside of my own communications, and am unclear based on the Change Log whether this has truly been resolved? I have an unpaid account with tipping turned “on.”
Liran Cohen
Kaycee Walton: Thanks for writing in and sharing your feedback! I understand how this may be of concern, but we can assure you that we do not use your contacts for any marketing purposes unless someone has specifically opted-in to be added to the Givebutter newsletter. Donors are not opted in by default. However, I'm happy to mention that we are working to remove the opt-in box from the donation flow, and we should have an update here soon!

Liran Cohen: thank you for the quick reply! By “donors” are you referring to everyone in our database or just people who have donated? Thanks for clarifying.
Liran Cohen
Kaycee Walton: Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to both in this case -- neither donors or anyone in your database are opted-in by default.

There should be a way to turn this off - and not necessarily subscribe to anything - in our case we use the Bloomerang integrated emails.
I am not using the 'free' version of Givebutter, I have paid for it through my Bloomerang subscription. So, for those who are using a free version of GB, by all means brand yourself with their materials - but for those of us who are paying - we should not have to dilute our brand this way/confuse our donors this way.
For a fundraising platform to blatantly try and solicit emails from my donors is highly spammy and inappropriate.
I just migrated over from DonorPerfect to Bloomerang, set up my first Givebutter campaign (a free event) and was completely soured by this excessive GB branding all over what I wanted to be a seamless my nonprofit brand experience for donors.
And to give me the opportunity to remove this branding at the Premium level for $100/mo AFTER a nonprofit discount which then climbs to $500 a month next year and then $750/mo the 3rd year is highway robbery!

Niki Chopra Richardson:
Hi Niki,
Thank you for your feedback on this feature request. I've recorded your feedback to remove the subscribe button entirely as it doesn't apply to all users with the Bloomerang Integration.
Additionally, Givebutter Gives Back is designed specifically for emerging nonprofits that need access to tools, strategy & support to grow their fundraising apparatus in a fast and scalable way for a fraction of the cost.
Your current Bloomerang Integration, billed through Bloomerang, does give your organization access to Givebutter Base, our subscription-free service offering.

Tori Meglio: My apologies, you are correct, I went back to look at my Bloomerang proposal costs ...so if I added the Premium version - the one that for the first year is $100 a month (after I apply to your giveback program), by year 3 I am paying $750 per month? Is that how I am understanding this?
So just because I want to have minimal branding, and not have GB all over my donation pages, I need to spend upward of $1200 a year and as much as $9,000 a year within a couple years??
To answer the question about replacement - I would rather that be a toggle option - whether or not we want to have a subscription option Mailchimp or otherwise. In some cases that might make sense, in others, like sending an event registration to all my donors for whom I already have their emails - it would be annoying and confusing.
Tori Meglio
Niki Chopra Richardson: I'm glad to clarify.
Thanks for your feedback on this feature. We will share the toggle option idea with our design team.
Regarding pricing can find the details of Givebutter’s subscriptions here: https://givebutter.com/pricing
You’re correct in that Pro starts at $199/mo, includes all of Base + custom branded emails, priority support, first access to beta features, and an onboarding package.
Premium starts at $1000/mo, includes all of Pro + custom branded pages, custom domains and subdomains, a dedicated success manager, quarterly success review
If you have any additional questions about the discounted rates of Givebutter Gives Back Program please reach out through the contact for to our sales team or email [email protected]. 😀

Tori Meglio: Hi Tori! I came across to the topic and learned about the pro and premium packages. Are these plans updated? Also, does the pricing page has all the details of the subscription?
Regarding emails sent after the donation, does Givebutter send the donors branded/marketing emails?
Kind regards
Liran Cohen
Hi all - Thank you for your feedback on this feature request. As we plan to address this, we'd be curious to know how many of you would be interested in having the ability to replace the Givebutter subscription with your own Mailchimp newsletter. And if you don't use Mailchimp, what newsletter software do you use?
Kathi Torres
Liran Cohen: Would love to replace the Givebutter subscription with the option to subscribe to our organization's newsletter! We use the Bloomerang email editor for our newsletter. (Or at the very least, disable the subscribe to Givebutter slide. I agree with other costumers that it causes confusion and frustration for our donors.) Thank you!
Deb Jarrett
Liran Cohen: We use Bloomerang email editor as well. once someone donates they are in our database. No need for a separate subscribe. We also connect to Active Campaign for our intro drip series.. Any option to stop the confusion for our donors would be great. But I don't think you need a subscribe once they have donated.. We have the contact at that point.
Holly Lewis
Liran Cohen: Replacing with Givebutter subscription with our own Mailchimp newsletter would be great! My organization uses both Mailchimp and Bloomerang email editor for communications with our supporters.

Totally agree. Just opened our campaign and have people asking to be removed. This is awful:(
